WE'RE BUILDING OUR BEST BROCK!

In April 2021, the Township of Brock contracted WSP to undertake a full review of our Official Plan to guide how Brock grows into the future. The Official Plan provides direction for the growth and development of the community and where land uses (e.g. residential, commercial, industrial, parks) should be located. The Official Plan Review is an opportunity to update the Official Plan to reflect changes within the community and in Provincial and Regional planning policies.

This study is being undertaken in seven modules to help focus the review and allow us to best engage our residents in ways that are meaningful and manageable. To do this, we will be hosting several public meetings and information sessions, along with constant virtual engagement.

USING THIS CONSULTATION PORTAL

This is a project set up in the Let's Talk Brock consultation portal that houses the Township's current projects that we need our resident's input on. On the right you will always find:

  • The contact information for Township staff if you have questions;
  • A "subscribe" button so we can send you periodic project updates and links to live events (we will only use your email for that purpose);
  • A list of project documents that will be updated as we move through this 2.5 year process; and
  • A project timeline that gives you a full view of the entire process of updating Brock's Official Plan.

We hope you start with reading the "What is an Official Plan" one-pager that has been created to summarize the process for you.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

To participate and provide your input, you can:

  • Subscribe to this page to receive email updates;
  • Attend the upcoming Public Information Sessions for each module. Once you subscribe to this page, you will receive an email with a link to attend the Public Information Sessions. Additional information about each module is located on the Project Timeline (on the right toolbar) and is updated below as we progress through the project;
  • Add your ideas, suggestions and questions to the Ideation Board below. You can also vote for other ideas you like to show your support; and/or
  • Email or phone a member of the project team. You can find contact information under the "Who's Listening" tab (on the right toolbar).

A Public Information Centre will be held virtually for each Module of the study. That is 7 specific opportunities for you to participate in addition to the Statutory Public Meetings required by the Planning Act. The first of these is a formal Statutory Public Meeting to introduce the full project to the public being held on September 20, 2021 (additional details below).

Meetings are being held virtually in response to the COVID 19 pandemic. If on-line participation is difficult for you for any reason, please don't hesitate to call 705-432-2355 ext. 235 to speak to the Township's Planner and we'll ensure you receive the information in a paper format or can simply speak by phone with your messages written out for you to be included in the formal consultation record. We will endeavor to engage you in the most convenient way possible for you.

WHERE WE ARE IN THE PROCESS NOW

STATUTORY PUBLIC MEETING

A requirement of the Planning Act is for the Township to host a formal introductory Public Meeting for the public and Council. On September 20, 2021 at 5pm, we hope you will be able to attend this virtual public meeting where the project team will explain the full project, what an Official Plan is and can do for the Township and how we will engage our residents at every step of the process. Please register using the button on the right "Subscribe" to be sent a link to the meeting. Advertisements are also in the local newspaper and the livestream link will be available on www.townshipofbrock.ca.

MODULE 1: VISION AND STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS

On August 31st, we hosted our first virtual Public Information Centre to have an interactive chat with the community about ideas, vision and strategies for Building our Best Brock. We received a great turnout for this event and gathered lots of valuable input. Thank you to all of our participants! We will be releasing a discussion paper soon.

Missed the PIC?

You can access the presentation and community engagement results in the right-hand column under “Project Documents”. Feel free to add your input in the Ideation Board below.

Stay tuned for our consultation on the 2nd Module: Housing / Living Areas.
